TRUE GRACE

by ROBERT ERRIDGE

Preached in Norwalk Calif. on Lord's Day Afternoon, July 27th, 2003

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last week I preached on True Worship. This week it will be on True Grace.

Ephesians 1:1-7
1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of GOD, to the saints which are at Eph'esus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
2 Grace be to you, and peace, from GOD our Father, and from the LORD Jesus Christ.
3 Blessed be the GOD and Father of our LORD Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
4 According as he hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love:
5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,
6 To the praise of the glory of His grace, wherein He hath made us accepted in the beloved.
7 In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace;

And here in v:6 To the praise of the glory of His grace, wherein He hath made us accepted in the beloved.

What does the word "grace" mean? It means unmerited favor to the unworthy. The word "un" of unmerited or unworthy means the opposite of.
With merited it would be the opposite. We cannot merit favor with GOD. And unworthy would be the opposite of being worthy. We are unworthy.

And the word "merit" means the qualities or actions that constitute the basis of ones deserts. Or, spiritual credit held to be earned by performance of righteous acts and to ensure future benefits.

In other words, it is by our earning, our performance, what we do, our working that future benefits can be received by whatever we do. Whether it be at the work place or in the spiritual manner by heaven. It is what we do.

Favor. Unmerited favor means partiality. A special privilege or right granted to do a kindness for.
And the word "unworthy" means not desired, or undeserving or unmerited. I just went over those very quickly. We can cover them in a little while again once I get into the main theme.

Romans 11:5
5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

This is a precious scripture to me because it opened up my eyes to the glorious gospel of grace.

I will explain Romans 11:5 as I lay the foundation with 2 Timothy 1:9
9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

"Who hath saved us" notice the past tense. "But according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before he world began."

That is the "in Christ Jesus." It is the election of grace. Christ was elected as the head. The body was joined to Him. That is the election of grace. He was elected to do a work and we were elected or chosen in Him. That is why it says, "was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began."

You see grace, the election of grace, has to be free from first to end. And that means before the foundation of the world as it says, "grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus." That means before the foundation of the world. Forever. We have always been in Him.
That is the "grace". You add any part of work in any part of the finished salvation, it is no longer grace. It would be a work.

It has to be "in Christ Jesus." You take out those three words and you have no gospel. The union with Jesus Christ is the gospel because that is our righteousness. Without it you have no salvation.

People speak of grace, they speak of righteousness. They speak of Jesus Christ. They speak of all these things. They can even say Arminians (free willers) are lost. They know nothing of "in Christ Jesus." Then they know nothing of grace.

Salvation is all in Jesus Christ "who hath saved us." People like to talk about how we are saved by faith. But they know nothing about an everlasting salvation in Jesus Christ. They know nothing of the gospel.

Actually the next chapter over we see the same thought in 2 Timothy 2:1
1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

The grace is "in Christ Jesus." That union from first to end. From everlasting all the way through. It has to be in Christ Jesus. That He was elected to do a work for His people. And He finished it. That is grace.

There is no grace beyond that.

That is why it says in Ephesians 2:5
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us (made us alive) with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

Ephesians 2:8
8 For by grace are ye (you have been) saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of GOD:

"For by grace are ye saved" that is how we are saved "by grace." It is unmerited. There is nothing we can do to earn it.

Proverbs 3:34
34 Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly (humble).

"But He giveth grace unto the lowly." Or the humble. Or the unworthy. The ones that know by grace that they had nothing to do with salvation. "He giveth grace." It is from Him. It is a gift. We cannot earn it. It is to the unworthy, to the lowly, to the humble.

Romans 3:10 & 11
10 As it is written, THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NO, NOT ONE:
11 THERE IS NONE THAT UNDERSTANDETH, THERE IS NONE THAT SEEKETH AFTER GOD.

None. No not one righteous. None. None seeketh. None understandeth. It is impossible without grace.

Romans 3:19 & 20
19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before GOD.
20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in His sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

v:19 "Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it sayeth to them who are under the law:" Who is under the law? Everyone that is born. It says something to them. It says something to us.
Everyone that is born. "That every mouth may be stopped, "and all the world may become guilty before GOD."

Do you see what he is saying? Every mouth may be stopped by the law. The world is guilty by this law. So is the law, is there any kind of hope for you? Is there any kind of hope for any man or woman that is born? It says "every mouth may be stopped."
'Well I,' it is stopped. 'Well,' it is stopped. I have done some good deed,' it is stopped. We all try and we stutter. But it is stopped. And all the world becomes guilty before GOD by this law.

Romans 4:4
4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of (according to) grace, but of (according to) debt.

"Now to him that worketh" we just saw that "every mouth may be stopped" and we become guilty. Every single person. So that is why it says "Now to him that worketh is the reward" that means heaven. The reward "not reckoned of grace, but of debt."

What does the word "debt" mean? It is something owed. We owe something. Just like we work. Day by day we work. Go to work to pay our bills. The debt is always there. We always have to keep working.

That is why the curse was set at the garden to keep working. That is showing that you cannot do anything. It is a picture that there is nothing that you can do.

The curse is there. And we keep working and we keep working. And we are still in debt and we are still in debt. We keep owing and we keep owing.

Matthew 18:23-28
23 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of (which wanted to settle accounts with) his servants.
24 And when he had begun to reckon (settle accounts), one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.
25 But forasmuch as he had not (was not able) to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.
26 The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him (prostrated himself) saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
27 Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him (released him), and forgave him the debt.
28 But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.

v:28 "But the same servant" that was forgiven. Pay me that thou owest." And that is what the law says, "Pay me that thou owest." And you will keep trying to pay and pay and do better works and better works and be a better person and be a better person.

And yet. And yet...

"Payest me that thou owest." What you owe. But yet we are a transgressor from the womb. So how can you pay? Because the law says in James 2:10

James 2:10
10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend (stumble) in one point, he is guilty of all.

If you offend that one point of the law, one point, that is it. You are in debt. And at the womb, before you are even born, you are a transgressor.
Which means you are already in debt.

Romans 3:23
23 For all have sinned, and come (fall) short of the glory of GOD;

"For all have sinned." All have sinned. Some are great sinners that are saved by grace and others are lesser sinners. It does not matter. One sin puts you in debt. And we have been transgressors from the womb.
You say "that is not fair?" Well, you can take it up with GOD because that is what the Bible says more than once.

Romans 6:23
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of GOD is eternal life through Jesus Christ (in Christ Jesus) our LORD.

That is the wages. You keep working, you keep working. You are in debt. Your wages, what you receive is death. That is your wages if you keep working is death.

Ezekiel 18:20
20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity (guilt) of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

"The soul that sinneth, it shall die." Transgressor from the womb already born into the state of spiritual deadness. We are in debt.

Ezekiel 33:13
13 When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it.

"When I shall say to the righteous," a person that thinks he is really good and has not committed a sin. He shall surely live if he keeps going.
"if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity," And it will be pretty good, he is working he is working thinking that he is doing very good. Day by day goes on but already at the womb the Bible says he is a transgressor. So he can keep going and going in his own mind.

But that one transgression at the birth, proves he shall surely die for it. And he is in debt.

Hebrews 7:22
22 By so much was Jesus made (much more Jesus has become) a surety of a better testament (covenant).

And we will see the wonders of the glory of GOD's grace starting to flow in.

Hebrews 7:22
22 By so much was Jesus made (much more Jesus has become) a surety of a better testament (covenant).

"By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament. The word "surety" one of its meanings is: One who has become legally liable for debt. This is where the glorious gospel comes into place because this is the everlasting covenant made with Jesus Christ as the head. As the surety because everyone was going to be born in debt.

But Jesus as the head of the people, in debt, from everlasting in the covenant. He is the surety to make sure by grace they are saved.

One who has become legally liable for debt. We have no way to pay it. But one was able Jesus Christ to pay our debt.

Isaiah 42:1
1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.

"Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth;" this is the Father talking about His Son. Jesus Christ mine elect His chosen one to do a work.

Isaiah 42:6
6 I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;

"I the LORD have called thee in righteousness," The Father has called Jesus Christ in righteousness. "And give thee for a covenant of the people," as a surety of this covenant.

Isaiah 42:7
7 To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

Isaiah 42:21
21 "The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.

Then notice what this elect, this chosen one was to do. "The LORD is well pleased" the Father is well pleased. "He will magnify" What is to magnify? Expands it. Magnifies so that it is well seen in His sight. "He will magnify the law, and make it honourable." Jesus Christ the head, the elect of His people.

That is a glorious verse. He magnified it and made it honorable, the law. It has been against us from birth. But He is the surety to magnify it and to make it honourable.

Matthew 5:17 & 18
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

v:18" one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law," "One jot" is the smallest letter in the Hebrew language is what it means. And "one tittle" is the smallest part of that letter.

So it means to the absolute. Even one letter to the minute part. He has fulfilled every part of the law. He has made it honorable to the Father. That as a surety for His people He sees no sin in the elect because of this one Jesus Christ the Head.

Romans 4:5
5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted (imputed as) for righteousness.

"is counted" or imputed "for righteous." "But to him that worketh not," that is a person that is not working for his salvation. "But believeth on Him", on Jesus Christ "that justifieth the ungodly." "But believeth on Him."

Acts 18:27
27 And when he was disposed to pass to Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace:

"which had believed through grace." Back in Romans 4:5 "But to him that worketh not, but believeth" so we see believing that it is by grace "on Him that justifieth the ungodly."

Romans 5:6
6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time (the right time) Christ died for the ungodly.

"For when we were yet without strength," the words "without strength" means to the law. We had no strength because at birth we are transgressors. We are in debt. So we have no strength. We are born in that condition. No strength to fulfill the law's demands. So a person keeps working and working and working, but he is in debt.

But Christ "in due time" Christ "died for the ungodly." It says He did not die for the godly. He died for the ungodly. That is all the transgressors from birth that are the elect. Not every single person but for all the transgressors at birth that are His people. He died for them. They are without strength. He died for them. He is the surety for them. He has become legally liable for them.
Legally liable for their debt.

Romans 4:5
5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

"that justifieth" or declares righteous the ungodly. It is people that are declared righteous because Christ died for them. They are the ones "that worketh not." He has died for them. They are the ungodly. They cannot work for their salvation. They understand it. The LORD has opened their heart to understand that they have been taken from verse 4 to verse 5 in Romans chapter 4.

Romans 4:4 & 5
4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifeth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

They have been working but then the LORD reveals to them that they can no longer work. Because one has died for them that had no strength. Transgressors from the womb not able to pay the debt. Without strength, Christ died for them. That if they believe on Him who has done this for them, his faith is counted for righteousness." or imputed.

We get His righteousness. We receive Him as a surety that He has paid the debt on their behalf. And they are freed from debt.

Colossians 2:14
14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances (certificate of debt with its decrees) that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

And I think this scripture that we have read before will be revealed even more to your hearts, LORD willing, if it is according to His will. "Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us," Blotting out the debt, in other words, that was against us. That is what it means, the debt from birth. Blotting it out.

"And took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;" That is grace, my friends. You could have tried to walk this life perfectly and tried to nail all of your works to the cross. It would get you nowhere. Because He will look at that one from the womb and say you have been in debt.

But the surety, Jesus Christ, who has become legally liable for His people. And when He went to the cross, He saw His seed. ( Isaiah 53:10 when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, ) He blotted out every single debt that was against them. They were without strength.

"which was contrary to us," because we had no strength. He took it out of the way. He nailed it to the cross.

Is that not glorious grace? Free?

Zechariah 4:7 & 8
7 Who art thou, O great mountain? (difficulty or obstacle) before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it.
8 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

This is the building of the house of the LORD. v:7 "the headstone" or the top stone.

Zechariah 4:9
9 The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you.

"His hands shall also finish it;" He has taken away the debt. It is a picture of Jesus Christ. He has finished it. He has nailed it to the cross. We have no more debt.

The top stone "headstone" has been laid in place. Jesus Christ is the foundation of this house. And every single one of His people have been put into place. Some are great sinners, murderers. Or just people that have been born and lived daily lives going to work. And the LORD opens the heart to see that they have been in debt.

The head stone, that top stone has been put into place. The finished work of Jesus Christ. He has taken away all their debt. And then you can shout "Grace, grace unto it." That is grace, my friends. There is no other grace but in Jesus Christ our surety who has taken away all of our debt.

Even yea from all eternity in Him "in Christ Jesus." No gospel, no grace without it.

Titus 3:5-7
5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
6 Which he shed (poured out) on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
7 That being justified (declared righteous) by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

v:5 "renewing of the Holy Ghost;" that is where the heart is opened up. The new birth.
v:7 "that being justified by His grace," that being declared righteous by His grace. "we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life." We are made heirs according to the hope of eternal life by His righteousness. And this is grace. He is our hope.

Romans 3:24
24 Being justified freely (without any cost) by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

"Being justified freely" without any cost. Not working, working, working, working. "Being justified freely by His grace" that He has nailed all the requirements, all the debt to the cross. "through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus." It is in Christ Jesus.

2 Thessalonians 2:13-16
13 But we are bound (under obligation) to give thanks alway to GOD for you, brethren beloved of the LORD, because GOD hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our LORD Jesus Christ.
15 Therefore, brethren stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.
16 Now our LORD Jesus Christ himself, and GOD, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace.

"through sanctification" or being set apart by the Spirit.
v:16 "good hope through grace." Hope through what? Grace. Hope of eternal life. It is through grace. Otherwise, we are in debt and there is no hope.

2 Thessalonians 1:12
12 That the name of our LORD Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our GOD and the LORD Jesus Christ.

"that the name" which means all of His works. All that He has done. "of our LORD Jesus Christ may be glorified in you," that we receive glory. Everything is from Him. "and ye in Him" that is the union. That is the bond. He is the Head.

We are the body. And that is the grace "according to the grace of our GOD and the LORD Jesus Christ. It was by their choosing. By their will that all of this has happened and it is by grace we have been saved.

Proverbs 3:22
22 So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace (favour) to thy neck.

It is talking about wisdom and it is talking about Christ in the above verses. It is talking about His doctrines. Then it says in verse 22, "So shall they be life" talking about Christ and His word. "and grace to thy neck." We are covered with this grace, with this life that is in Jesus Christ. The word reveals it to us and we are covered with it. "Grace to thy neck."

Proverbs 4:9
9 She shall give (place on) to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.

"an ornament: it is beautiful. And it glows. And it is "a crown of glory. "shall she deliver to thee." What an ornament we have been given of grace. It is our crown of glory. The finished work of Jesus Christ has taken away the debt. And we have a crown of glory. The crown of righteousness Himself imputed to us, Jesus Christ.

Acts 20:24
24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the LORD Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of GOD.

"to testify the gospel of the grace of GOD," There is no other gospel that once He saves His people, to preach the truth of His gospel. They are to testify of this gospel of grace that Christ Jesus has taken away all of His people's debt. And they are to work not! They receive everything from the LORD because we are in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 1:6
6 To the praise of the glory of His grace, wherein He hath made us accepted (bestowed grace [favor] upon us) accepted in the beloved.

That word "favor" we will look at a little bit before we close. "Favor" a special privilege or right granted to do a kindness for. Favor or partiality.

"To the praise of the glory of His grace," "He hath made us accepted in the beloved." We have been accepted in the beloved.

Ephesians 1:7
7 In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace;

"the forgiveness of sins," and the forgiveness of sins is the Father does not behold iniquity in Jacob. (Numbers 23:21) He sees no sins in His people because the debt has been taken away by Christ and nailed to the cross.

The words "made us accepted" in the original language I have shown before, but we will look at it again.

Luke 1:28
28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the LORD is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

"And the angel came in unto her, "talking about Mary. "highly favored" that is the word "hath made us accepted" we saw in Ephesians 1:6. Accepted and highly favored are the exact Greek word. It is used only twice, here and in Ephesians.

Ephesians 1:6
6 To the praise of the glory of His grace, wherein He hath made us accepted in the beloved.

"accepted in the beloved" or we are highly favored in the beloved. We have been given a special privilege or right. It has been granted to us because of a kindness shown to us because of what Christ Jesus has done. We are highly favored in Him. In all of His works. We are accepted.
We are highly favored in Him. Take away "in Christ Jesus" the union? No grace!. No glory of His grace. No riches of His grace.

Ephesians 2:7
7 That in the ages to come He might shew the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

The word "kindness" means favor. His kindness, His favor to us in and through Christ Jesus. The debt has been taken away. He shows kindness to us because we are in union with His Son Jesus Christ. He beholds no iniquity in us.

Psalm 44:3
3 For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance (presence), because thou hadst a favour unto them.

"but thy right hand, and thine arm," talking about Christ. The strong right hand, the strong right arm. "because thou hadst a favour unto them." That is why He saved them. That is why He saved His people with an everlasting kindness. He has saved His people.

Isaiah 54:7
7 For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.

"but with great mercies will I gather thee." Even after our birth while we are in debt. "For a small moment have I forsaken thee;" that is what this is talking about. But because we are joined to Christ and He is the Surety, "but with great mercies will I gather thee."

Isaiah 54:8
8 In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness (lovingkindness) will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer.

"I hid my face from thee for a moment;" talking about at that time of unregeneration. "But with everlasting kindness" There it is! It is an everlasting kindness for His people. It is an everlasting favor for His people.
They are highly favored in the Beloved.

Psalm 102:12
12 But thou, O LORD, shalt endure for ever; and thy remembrance unto all generations.

"and thy remembrance unto all generations." He always remembers His covenant with His people. Because when He sees a person one of His elect, He sees the union in Christ Jesus.

Psalm 102:13
13 Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come.

"the set time, is come." The time of love. As it says in Ezekiel 16:8 Now when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, behold, thy time was the time of love;)

The time of love, the set time. "for the time to favour her," The set time of favor and it is from everlasting. And then Christ came for His people. And The LORD opens their heart and shows that love to their soul. It shows that their debt has been taken away.

Psalm 85:1
1 LORD, thou hast been favourable (shown favour) unto thy land: thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob.

"LORD, thou hast been favourable unto thy land:" Talking about the elect.

Psalm 85:2
2 Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people; thou hast covered all their sin.

Selah.

"Thou hast covered all their sin." As I just mentioned, He has taken their debt away. They are no longer in debt. The Father sees no sin. He beholds none. It is all His plan. It is all His doing. And at the set time Christ is revealed to their hearts by the Holy Spirit to see this glorious truth.

Psalm 85:3
3 Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness of thine anger.

By His grace.

Isaiah 54:5
5 For thy Maker is thine husband;

Song of Solomon 8:10
10 I am a wall, and my breasts like towers: then was I in his eyes as one that found favour (peace).

Talking about the husband and the wife. "And I am a wall," is talking about Christ is the foundation. The Gentiles have been grafted in to the foundation and is made perfect in Christ.

"Then was I in his eyes as one that found favour." It is the same theme. The foundation and the elect. We are found favor in Him because the foundation and the wall has been put in place.
The True Israel of GOD, the elect.

Colossians 2:10
10 And ye are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power (rule and authority).

"And ye are complete in Him," We are complete. He has taken away our debt. We are complete. It is a finished salvation. We are complete in all of His works. There is nothing to do. There is no working.

It is completed. We are complete in Him in all of His works. He is our hope for eternal life.

2 Corinthians 9:8
8 And GOD is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

See, grace for our salvation. Grace for having sufficiency in all things for our daily needs. And even for every good work as we go on after we have been saved. It is by grace. It abounds towards us.

Romans 12:3
3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as GOD hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

See the same theme here. "For I say, through the grace given unto me," "the measure of faith." Some like Paul are able to do great works and others have a little grace. And they are like some of the kings in the Old Testament. And you may wonder, wow, that person was saved?

But yet it says, "to every man the measure of faith." In some of the kings, as you look through 1 & 2 Kings and 1 & 2 Chronicles were sinners saved by grace.

Romans 12:4 & 5
4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office (function):
5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

Christ is the Head and so we being many are one body in Christ. Not one here, one there. We are joined together as a body.

Romans 12:6
6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;

"Having then gifts differing according to the grace" Why do we have different gifts? And not the same ones?
Because it is by "grace that it is given to us," "whether prophecy," that is talking about the preaching of the gospel. "let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;" the preaching of the word.

Ephesians 2:4 & 5
4 But GOD, who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us.
5 Even when we were dead in sins hath quickened us (made us alive) together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

Ephesians 2:6
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

"And hath raised us up together," because Christ is the head of the body and He has taken away all their debt.
"And hath raised us up together," Because of this precious gospel, we are sitting together in GOD's mind, the Father's mind in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

"In Christ Jesus." Take away "in Christ Jesus" and we are still in debt.

Put Christ Jesus "in Christ Jesus" there, and we are sitting "in heavenly places" because the work is finished.

Ephesians 2:7-10
7 That in the ages to come He might shew the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through (in) Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of GOD:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10 For we are His workmanship (creation), created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which GOD hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

It is all by grace from first to end until the day we die.

What a glorious gospel! This is True Grace. Take away "in Christ Jesus" and you take away the "True." People preach grace? They know nothing of TRUE GRACE.

Ephesians 1:6
6 To the praise of the glory of His grace, wherein He hath made us accepted in the beloved.

"Made us accepted" or highly favored "in the Beloved."
